Digital photography - Simple photographic techniques for better photos.

Features and Accessories

Resolution defines the number of pixels that the camera uses to produce a picture. This is often quoted using the term megapixel. The more pixels you capture, the larger you can print your photo without losing quality. However, more pixels means larger file sizes, so you can fit fewer pictures in a given amount of camera memory.

Lenses
Telephoto - Use a telephoto lens if you’re going to shoot from far away to get closer to your subject.

Wide angle - Use a wide angle lens if you’re going to shoot architecture and landscapes, or in any situation where you need a panorama. Wide-angle lenses enable you to fit a large area into the frame at close distance.

On your digital camera’s zoom controller, the T means telephoto or zoom in, and the W means wide angle.

Tripods - To get sharp shots at night or when using a slow shutter speed, you need to mount your camera on a tripod.

Reflectors are thin, flat panels that have a light-reflecting surface. Reflectors come in handy for eliminating shadows in a scene. You don’t need to buy a commercially - made reflector to use this technique - a piece of white cardboard will do. Those foil-covered windshield shades also make good reflectors.
